Minimalist

I've been experimenting with Minimalism lately - a kind of "Ironic Mininalism" project I assigned myself. Here's the brief: "Say as much as possible with as little as possible... - Lots of negative space, texture or repetition, simplified subject, bare essentials - Colors, vibrant or subdued, complementary - Appears real, looks "in-camera" - except there's an impossible element... - Off-kilter element creates a question, an immediate reaction in the viewer's mind - The image must ask / say / demand something: "Deal with THIS!" "What does it mean?" "Oh... that's funny!" "Is this real?"

"Oblivious"

A non-existent building. This one is composed from an image of a balcony at the B'nai B'rith building in Santa Barbara, and the odd balcony from the backside of the Arlington Theatre downtown.

"Partly Cloudy"

Image composed from 2 photos: the cloud, which I captured one day on an iPhone, and a fragment from another photo I took, the backside of the Frietas Building in Santa Barbara. I reworked the fragment into a new, full-blown building that doesn't actually exist.
